After visiting the Saemangeum a 16 year old Korean student wrote:

'We were at a graveyard of the mistreated ocean! The mangled limbs and swollen bits of bodies made a dreadful sight. I wanted to scoop up the pieces and slam in on Governor Kang's face and yell, "See what you've done? Look!" We bit our lips and stared at the corpse in sorrow then hastened our pace. Will they ever understand that what they do to the nature comes right back to them?'
